Clinic for Anaesthesia, Intensive Care, Pain Therapy and Palliative Medicine

The Clinic for Anaesthesia, Intensive Care, Pain Therapy and Palliative Medicine undertakes preliminary examinations, preparation and implementation of all modern anaesthesia for other specialist medical areas.

We ensure that patients are able to undergo pain and complication-free anaesthesia during surgery. After interventions the postoperative condition of patients is monitored and pain therapy will, if required, be subsequently administered in the recovery room. After major surgical procedures or treatment of high-risk patients, monitoring and treatment will take place in the interdisciplinary Intensive Care Unit, which is also under anaesthesiologic supervision.

PCA pumps (patient-controlled analgesia) and various catheterisation methods are available for postoperative pain management, by means of which patients can adjust the dosage of pain relieving medication according to their own subjective experience.

Adjacent to this are the palliative ward and the day clinic for pain patients under the medical supervision of the head physician at the Clinic for Perioperative Medicine.
